The four-hour workshop presented by the National Cybersecurity Training and Education Center (NCyTE) team members Kristine Christensen and John Sands was an invaluable experience for anyone involved in guiding students toward their career field. The session provided an in-depth introduction to the cybersecurity profession, a field that is both rapidly growing and complex to explain to students unfamiliar with its opportunities. The toolkit introduced during the workshop was especially helpful, offering a structured and accessible way to present cybersecurity programs and career pathways. The presenters also shared clear, actionable advice for promoting the field. I really enjoyed and now use the video clips. This workshop is really helping us as counselors and advisors demystify cybersecurity for students and their families.

As a community college academic advisor, I work with students pursuing numerous career fields and professions. I cannot possible be knowledgeable with each of the academic options. One of the highlights of the workshop was the hands-on exercises, which taught us how to effectively use the online tools included in the toolkit. These activities not only deepened my understanding of the resources but also provided practical strategies for applying them in real-world advising scenarios. What I appreciated most was how the workshop equipped me with the confidence and materials to discuss cybersecurity in a way that is engaging and approachable. With this toolkit now at my fingertips, I feel prepared to share detailed and accurate information about cybersecurity careers, helping students and their parents see the immense potential this field offers. This workshop is a must for any career counselor or academic advisor looking to better serve their students in today’s technology-driven world.
