SUMMARY:Intrusion Detection for Cybersecurity
DESCRIPTION:This course is organized through Madison Area Technical College. Please email Ken McCullough to register. Registration deadline is June 17\, 2020. \n\nNOTE: This class will be broadcast live via WebEx – attendees should expect to login in to the class and participate at the times scheduled. \nDescription: This session will provide an overview of the tools and techniques commonly used for detecting threats to an enterprise infrastructure. Implement strategies for documenting and reporting detected events based on industry standard compliance frameworks. We will use the Security Onion distribution. Tools include Elasticsearch\, Logstash\, Kibana (ELK/Elastic Stack)\, Wazuh\, Snort\, Zeek\, Wireshark\, and TCP Dump. On the final day we will be doing a capture the FLAG event in the Cyber range. \nPrerequisite: Basic understanding of Linux operating system. \n\nInstructor: Mike Masino has been an Information Technology instructor at Madison Area Technical College since 2004. Mike has eleven years of experience previously working first as an integrated control systems developer and later as systems Administrator for the University of Wisconsin Extension. Mike holds an Associate in Applied Science degree in Electronics Engineering\, as well as Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Computer Science. Mike’s industry certifications include: Microsoft: MCSE\, MCP + I (Win NT 4.0/ Win2000) / Cisco: CCNA\, CCAI / CompTIA: A+. Security+\, Network + / SANS: GCIH\, GCFA\, GCIA (current member of GIAC advisory board)

SUMMARY:CCNA 3 Instructor Certification (CCSI) for Teachers / CCNAv7 Enterprise Networking\, Security and Automation (ENSA)
DESCRIPTION:This course is organized through Madison Area Technical College. Please email Ken McCullough to register. Registration deadline is June 17\, 2020. \n\nNOTE: This class will be broadcast live via WebEx – attendees should expect to login in to the class and participate at the times scheduled. \nDescription: The third course in the CCNAv7 curriculum describes the architectures and considerations related to designing\, securing\, operating\, and troubleshooting enterprise networks. This course covers wide area network (WAN) technologies and quality of service (QoS) mechanisms used for secure remote access. ENSA also introduces software-defined networking\, virtualization\, and automation concepts that support the digitalization of networks. Students gain skills to configure and troubleshoot enterprise networks\, and learn to identify and protect against cybersecurity threats. They are introduced to network management tools and learn key concepts of software-defined networking\, including controller-based architectures and how application programming interfaces (APIs) enable network automation. \nThis class will cover some new topics that were not part of the previous CCNA curriculum\, so it is recommended even for those people that have prior NetAcad experience. \nPrerequisite: Concepts covered in CCNA 2 classes or prior networking experience. \n\nInstructor: Brent Sieling is an Instructor for the 2-year Network Specialist Associate Degree at Madison College. He has been teaching networking classes full-time since January of 2006 and part-time for three semesters prior to that. He is the lead contact for the Academy Support Center and Instructor Training Center at Madison College’s Cisco Networking Academy\, providing support to over 80 high schools and technical colleges in the State of Wisconsin. Brent previously worked as a network specialist at the Madison Metropolitan School District\, where he managed a network of over 50 schools. Brent currently holds the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)\, CCNA Voice\, and CCNA Security certifications\, and is the author of the Cisco Press CCNA Voice lab book. He completed the Cisco Academy Instructor Trainer Qualification (ITQ) process to become an Academy Instructor Trainer. Brent has been a regular presenter at the Cisco Academy Conferences.
